Aquarium Coolers or Chillers are available in two different types called drop-in and in-line. Drop-in chillers are basically coils that are placed within the sump or fish tank to cool the water and there is no plumbing involved. Whereas a in-line chiller the water is cooled from within the chiller, so water is pumped into the chiller then return to the aquarium cooled. The advantage of a in-line cooler or chiller is that it can be located away from the aquairum.
For nano aquariums and tanks up to 50 gallons, some of our best sellers are the IceProbe, MicroChiller, Current USA’s Nano or Mini and JBJ’s Nano and Mini chillers. For 50 gallon tanks or larger, customer favorites include Aqua Logic, Current USA Prime, JBJ Artica and TECO chillers.
Temperature controllers will be necessary to successfully operate the cooler or chiller. USing a single-stage controller will allow you to control only the chiller, if you use a dual-stage controller can control both a coller and a heater to minimize variance and eliminate conflicts.
